It
has long been known that education is the key to ensuring that people
develop to their full potential in life, both on a personal and
professional basis. The Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery have a
long and excellent history as educators.
Since 1885,
we’ve opened or administered over 30 schools in Connecticut
or beyond, including primary, secondary and college levels as well
as nursing schools associated with our hospitals.
Today, you’ll
still find us in the field of education—working
with children with special needs at the Intensive Education
Academy in West Hartford, in educational programs at Trust House
and in specialized education services for adults at Jubilee House
and in the House of Bread.
In our mission
sites in Kentucky and Alabama, Sisters work closely with local parishes
and agencies as they provide educational opportunities for adults
and children alike. Education in those rural areas also includes
various outreach or health-related services.
