The
connection between body, mind and spirit proves to
be one of the important aspects of life as people experience illness,
of any kind. Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery strive to be the
presence of Christ the Healer,
companioning others in situations that threaten physical
or psychological functioning, self-worth and an appreciation of
one’s personal dignity. We administrated three hospitals in
Connecticut and maintained a health center for our own Sisters.
We continue
to maintain a presence in those places
today while answering new calls to ministry in Texas
where Sisters support the dying in a hospice close to
San Antonio as well as provide medical care to a pediatric
population, children of migrant workers in El Paso.
Pastoral outreach
in hospitals, ministry with those afflicted
with HIV/AIDS, and providing health care to the poor are just
three ways in which Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery
continue to respond to some of the needs of today. Open to
understanding how the body, mind and spirit work together
in a person’s life, Sisters and Associates provide support,
caring and compassion to others in difficult moments of
short- or long-term illness.
